White Leopard Print

Hi Guys,

Just a super quick post today. I was 100% inspired by this amazing mani. I've never tried to hand draw leopard print before.... So don't laugh!!!! :)

I used OPI Don't Touch My Tutu, China Glaze For Audrey, Lemon Fizz and Peachy Keen, then out-lined each dot with Cult Nails Nevermore.

Thanks for reading, have a great day!

MASH Plates 26-50 Review

Hi guys!

Today I want to share my review of one of my most loved nail-art products: the Mash Nails stamping plate set 26-50 (the 2nd set).  I've had this set for almost a year now and they're very well used & loved. At the time I was in the market for a full stamping set (I only had maybe 5 or 6 Konad plates) and I bought the Mash set based of Martas positive review HERE. Since purchasing the Mash set, I haven't seen another set of plates I would rather have. These plates have a wide variety of great versatile images.

The quality is very high, the plates are sturdy metal with paper backing. The images are fully etched, and I don't have transfer issues. One little thing worth noting is the images with a large positive space can take a lot of polish, when you run your stamper over those images you can squeeze excess polish out the sides. Specifically I am referencing the clover on plate 30, the checkers on 38 and the stars on 49, a light hand is needed when transferring to the stamper. You can see an example of what I'm referring to HERE on the thumb.

32-37 (sorry, they are arranged backwards!)

Some of the plates are very well used! I bet you can tell which images are my favourites lol. If I had to narrow it down to my 5 top plates I would choose 29, 30, 37, 45, 46... with 37 & 45 being my top 2 plates.

That being said, I wanted to test out some images I've never tried before and give you guys a candid look at what the images look like. I stamped 10 different images on my nails, and they are all my first use with that particular image. All are stamped over Cult Nails Flushed using Essie No Place Like Chrome.

Hummm, I'm not sure I like how the linear stamp turned out, not sure if it was me, or the image. I'll have to try it again to know for sure... Otherwise these all were great!

I can already see I have a few new faves that I can't wait to use in a full proper manicure. Look at those Cherries! How cute is that lady bug!? I am still practising at stamping on my right hand, so most mistakes you see were because of me.

I purchased my set from the Mash Nails web site, but pricing has changed a bit over the months. I paid $25, plus $10 shipping... so it worked out to be $1.40 per plate... totally worth it!

I highly recommend this set to any one thinking about getting into stamping.

You can see all the times I've used Mash images on my blog HERE

Do you have a favourite plate set?

Thanks for reading!! Have a great day everyone,

My 2nd attempt at Tribal Nails

Hi There!

Have a good weekend? Mine was very low key, I stayed home and made food!... The pregnant lady gots to eat :P Oh and I did my nails. I actually drank a cup coffee at 9 on Saturday night, then stayed up until 1am doing my nails and watching the Star Trek movie.

As my title suggests, today I have my 2nd attempt at the tribal mani. You can see my first attempt HERE in which I followed Lucy's tutorial. I followed the same basic steps to create the look below:
I used a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and painted over with China Glaze Lemon Fizz & Peachy Keen.

Then I separated the colours using a no name black stripping polish, once separated I filled in the spaces with extra designs.

I left a few spaces open, there I added dots using my dotting tools (you can see my pinky, where I smudged the center dot)

I really enjoyed the finished look! I have a huge thing for tribal inspired stuff right now, and I'll be pulling this look out again soon :).
************************Non-Nail Polish Related************************
Before I sign off for the day, I want talk a moment about something unrelated to nail polish. I don't usually use my blog as a "soap box" to stand on and preach, but with summer in full swing I would like to share with you a link from Health Canada about sun screens, sunburns, skin cancer and prevention of the last 2 (there are many other reputable sources as well).

As a parent there is so much out of my control as far as my children go, that I do what I can to prevent what I have control over. One of those things is sun screen, I apply it to my sons every day before school, and I pay extra to have their child care provider put it on during the day as well. The reason I do this is out lined in the article link above.

Many people who have skin cancer got the sun damage from burns they received when they were little. I've come across my share of people who've had skin cancer scares/spot removals. When I was younger I let myself get tanned burned by sitting in the sun reading, sunning at the beach, ect, mistakenly thinking I was doing my body/skin a favour. Today I apply sunscreen to my kids & myself once a day, and re-apply as needed.

There are people who do not understand why I take sun protection seriously, and some even make disparaging remarks towards me when I ask or talk about sun screen application/use... actually these people are the reason I'm writing this. I thought I would take to opportunity of using my blog platform to share my point of view on the subject of sun protection.

I hope this little tangent encourages you to do more research on the subject and make informed choices. The damage you may do to your skin now, might affect you 15, 20, 25 yrs down the road.

If you made it this far, thank you so much for reading.

Have a great Monday & stay safe in the sun!!!

Nude Polish with Glitter

Hi Guys!

Who has 2 thumbs and is loving nude tone polish? *This girl* I have yet another nude shade, this time with a medium grade holo glitter at the base. There are TONS of amazing glitter-at-the-base style manicures out in the blogosphere world, but THIS one by The Daily Polish really spoke to me. The look below is loosely based off hers.
To create the look, I used Cult Nails Crusin' Nude (2 coats) as my base, then with the brush from the bottle I lightly dabbed Claires Glitter Top Coat (don't you love innovative names! lol) to the base of my nail. Don't fret, what Silver Top Coat lacks in name, it makes up for in pure glitter, that bottle is PACKED! I bet I could get it completely opaque in 3 coats, possibly 2! Well worth the $4.00 investment. The glitter to polish ratio is pretty much ideal, and it twinkles (honestly! It's the only appropriate adjective here!) in the light. The particles are large enough to reflect a good amount of light, yet small enough to blend nicely with any nail art.
Thats all from me today! Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

Pinterest Inspiration: Nudes & Neons

I'm back with another copy-cat look I found from Pinterest. This time I could help but try and replicate THIS mani (by Karianne of Neglelakkmani) which just so happened to be a guest post for The Polish Chest. Phew! That was a mouthful, but worth it! Please check out those links, I promise you will not be sorry you did!

On to my attempt:
Here I used Cult Nails Crusin' Nude as my base. Once that was dry I placed some french tip guides on my nails, and painted in the gaps using China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy & China Glaze Shocking Pink.
I've never really keep quite about how I dislike neon nail polish. Don't get me wrong, its fun and bright and in your face, but its just not typically my style. I LOVE using neon as an accent though! It still keeps your mani extremely bright and youthful, yet toned down for everyday wear. For an old mom like my-self, neon accents are perfect! :P

Don't you guys just love Pinterest? My entire nail board is dedicated to looks I love and hope to one day recreate. I love the fact that using Pinterest you can find a lot of inspiration from bloggers/ ppl on instagram, that I would have never known about other wise.

Thank you to Karianne and Danny for being my insipration today.

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

China Glaze Fast Track with Simple Stamps

Hi Guys,

Happy belated 4th of July!

In an effort to keep up with my life these days, I am opting for simpler manis. Todays look was created using China Glaze Fast Track from the awesome Colours from the Capitol collection (I love The Hunger Games series & can't wait for the 2nd movie!).
Fast Track is a tan-beige-with a little bit of grey shade packed with chunky gold shimmer, in some lights I swear I see glints of green and red shimmer to.

I followed up with some light stamping from my 2 favourite Mash Plates M37 (triangles - my most hearted stamp eva) and Mash 30 (dandelion seeds...things). I used Cult Nails Nevermore as the stamping polish. This is my fist time using Nevermore for stamping, and I loved how there was no dragging when I added top coat.

That was my simple look for the last-half of the week, the shimmer in Fast Track really won me over. Feel free to check out the shimmery nude comparison I did last year.

Thanks for stopping by this Friday! Have a great weekend :)

Essie Pink a Boo With Lush Lacquer Clowning Around

I have another really simple look for you today! Essie Pink a Boo topped with the super fun, party in a bottle, Lush Lacquer Clowning Around.

I started with 3 coats of the sheer, yet packed with crazy amount of blue & red shimmer, Essie. Some nails had a 4th coat added. This pink is so pretty, if you ever find it I encourage you to grab it! Its one of those shades that the women who never wear blues/greens/burples or glitters, feel like they are going all out, and that totally OK with me :P its so pretty!

Next I added some Clowning Around... LOVE this topper polish. I'm not a huge fan of neon polish alone... but these adorable pops of neon are perfection & completely on trend at the moment. Its thick, so you will have to dab the glitters on.

Finally to end the whole mani off I stamped some stars from Konad Plate M3. The finished product reminds me of My Little Pony or something!! lol

Have a great day guys!
