Western Inspired Mani

Hey Guys!

I had this mani that I was really eager to share with you, and then I went on and totally forgot about it. Yesterday I re-discovered in my 'needs to be edited' file. DOH! Here's the photo by Coewless from pinterest that originally motivated me. Read her blog post HERE.

Here's my take:

I used OPI My Vampire Is Buff, China Glaze Budding Romance, and black striping polish

I will, without a doubt, circle back to this style and try a similar look again. My pinterest nail board is FILLED with tribal/western/Aztec type designs.

You can see my other attempt at tribal HERE

What style are you currently inspired by?

Have a great Monday, and thanks for stopping in :)

Essence Vintage District Swatches

Hi guys,

I've been falling behind on my weekly postings, but I'm trying my best to pull my socks up and keep my Monday, Wednesday, Friday posting routine.

I picked up a few Essence (woo hoo for cheap polish!) at my local Shoppers when I saw the new Vintage District display, so today I have quick & dirty swatches of the 3 I saw in the display:

Vintage Peach:

Antique Pink:
 Shopping @ Portobello Road:
I'll let you make your own judgements on the colours, but the formula was pretty damn good on all shades, even the peach. Peachy shades are notorious for being streaky. I applied 3 coats on each. Good formula combined with one of the cheapest price tag out there make these a win for me.
THanks for stopping by,
Have a great day guys!

China Glaze For Audrey With Cats!

Good morning and happy Monday!
After a long week last week, I'm happy to be back with an age old time favourite shade, the ever popular China Glaze For Audrey. The only down side to owning a large nail polish stash is that tried, true, and trusted beauties like China Glaze For Audrey, get over looked a little to often.  Here is a quick mani I did at like 1:30 am one night last week (sorry for the mistakes!)

I think this is 3 coats of FA... like I mentioned, it was way past my bed time! And water decals applied on top of that. Oh my, arn't those something else? You can find them at KKCenter HK.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day everyone!!

Franken By Morie's Nail Art

Hi Guys!

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I saw a stand up comedian perform for my first time, it was really good. We also celebrated my sisters birthday with some family and yummy food. From me, she got her first stamping plate set (bundle Monster 2010 if you're wondering), as well the double ended stamper and some polish. Our Dad was basically like..wutt??? when we tried to explain nail stamping to him lol.

Anyways, I have an awesome fraken that Adri over at Morie's Nail Art made and sent as part of a swap we did a while back.  Take a look at this homemade beauty!:

So pretty! I've worn it twice now, and the playful glitter in the polish always makes my day. All pictures shown here are 2 coats of the franken over 2 coats of OPI Planks A Lot.

Thanks Adri for sending me this lovely polish!! If you haven't yet, go check out her blog, she posts lots of her frankens (and they rock!) and other great manis.

Have a great day everyone. Thanks for reading!

Princess Stamped

Hi Ladies,

I am using one of my back-ups today, I wanted to share with you a look I created back when I did my Cult Nails swatches. Using Princess as my based I stamped using MASH Plate 42 and Essie No Place Like Chrome. I filled in the flowers using Cult Nails Flushed and OPI Kiss Me On The Tulips. I then mattifed the whole thing using Essie Matte About You. This has got to be one of my favourite combinations ever! Princess is the perfect base colour for stamps.

Here are a few more pics:

I wanted to remind you to please enter my giveaway if you haven't! It ends tonight at 12

Polish Days: Seven Deadly Sins.

Hi guys!

Today I'm doing my first Polish Days theme, which is the Seven Deadly Sins. To be honest I had no idea where to start with this theme... As a result cause alot of reflection on my part, and you know what!?! I am guilty of all of them, pretty well on a daily basis. Which gave me my first idea, pick the sin I think I'm most guilty of, and do a mani based off that. The sin I picked: Greed... Don't get me wrong, I don't think I am greedy in a gimme gimme-grabby hands kind of way, but more of in a day how much do I expect? I expect my pay check, I expect my food to taste good, my drinks to be hot, to get kind service, stuff to be in stock, polish to have good formula.... and on and on. So getting to my point of greed, is that my minimum daily expectations are way more then alot of people will ever have. The hashtag: #firstworldproblems kind of encompasses that.

I did some googling of Greed and found this image:

Source (check out her other work, its amazing)
The first 2 things I noticed about this picture was the golden hue,and the bodice of her dress = gold braided mani!

I used SOPI I Only Shop Vintage, Essie Good As Gold and Maybelline Bold Gold

Next thing I noticed were the sweet diamonds all around the arch. They kinda look like the diamonds of the Nail Craze NC04 plate.

Yep! so stamping smudged the braided look due to all the polish layers, I had to remove the middle fingers polish it was so bad. I added Shimmer Tracy as an accent nail, and topped all others off with a coat of Elemental Styles Fools Gold...

*Sigh* I should I left it alone! Alright, you can stop laughing at me & my crappy mani now! lol Its more Goldmember from Austin Powers, than the painting above!

Which of the 7 are you?

Bondi New York: Chasing The Sun

Hey Guys!
Another rare Sunday Post from me, This was actually intended to be Fridays post but I didn't schedule it properly soooo... Sunday it is ;)
I am really excited tell you about Bondi, a new nail polish company from New York, created with the purpose of giving back to the community. I was fortunate to recieve a lovely bottle of polish (of my choice) to try out and review for you guys! I picked the bright and cheery summer time orange: Chasing The Sun

What you see here is 3 coats, over all formulation was good, but I did have some streaking issues on the 2nd coat, those went away with the 3rd coat and the polish leveled nicely. It dries to a lovely squishy, shiny, creme finish. Its the type of soft yet bright orange that can really brighten up your out fit and, if you're like me, your day. I was surprised to see how vibrant Chasing The Sun truly is on the nail. Its darker in real life then the stock photo:
Chasing the Sun
Then again, certain lighting makes it look almost identical...
Its a tropical orange, I can totally see someone wearing this shade to a resort or something!

Fast Facts about Bondi New York:  *Copied from their press release
  • 5 free (formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor, DBP & toluene).
  • 20 fashion forward colors which will launch twice a year, as well as four limited edition collections.
  • Available via select on line retail partners, as well as
  • 100% of the net profit (after costs) is donated to our non-profit which makes grants to organisations like Food Bank for New York City.
Each bottle cost $15.00.
Of course I did a bit of simple nail art:

I painted the tips with Finger Paints Paper Mache & OPI Can't Find My Czechbook, I topped the look off with a coat of Essie Matte About You. I adored the bright contrast and simplicity of this mani.
So whaddya think? You can check out Bondi Nail Polish HERE

Just a reminder to check out my giveaway HERE as well! (ends April 10th)

Have a great day everyone!!

Fun Mani for Superficially Colorful

Hi guys,

My friend and fellow blogger Jin from Superficially Colourful is holding a nail art contest and giveaway for her 1 year blogirversary (yay!). The theme of the contest is FUN!! :)

Here's what I sumitted:

I used Sally Hansen Grass Slipper as my base, the flowers were done using Finger Paints Paper Mache, OPI Kiss Me On The Tulips, and the extra dots were done using Colour Club Over The Moon  & Eternal Beauty

I really wanted to go for a bright look, and since it was bright, I decided to keep the nail art bold yet simple. I can also feel the spring in the air :) which may have played a roll in my colour choices!

Thanks for stopping by, please don't forget to head over to Jins blog and check out her giveaway/ contest (its ends April 7th - So hurry!)!

Also if you're in the mood for entering draws, feel free to enter MY giveaway HERE.

Have a great day! :)

Lise Watier Power Grey

I've got another Lise Watier beauty, called Power Grey today. Power Grey is a greyed taupe shade with a mountain worth of micro shimmer packed in the bottle. Its the same type of shimmer we saw in her sister polish Power Punch but to a greater extent.

The formula was thick and took a while to dry. It seems like a good polish to use for stamping, I'm going to have to try it and report back!

I personally found Power Grey to be a bit cool for my skin tone, so I used a tip I picked up from Marias Nail Art Blog, and dotted a flattering shade along the cuticle line .

The shimmer caused a bit of streaking which was fairly discrete in real life... but thanks to the glory of high resolution camera, you can see the streaks clearly on your screen.

Power Grey is definitely a fashion forward office safe shade, and the super fine shimmer really make it something special compared to the 834837401 other taupe's in the world.

For the above nail art I used MASH plate 29, Konad White, China Glaze fairy dust, Lise Waiter Power Punch (dotting).

What do you guys think of taupe/grey nail polish? is it fun or *Yawn* boring!?

Don't forget to check out my giveaway!

BYE! :)

Lise Watier Power Punch

Hello & Happy Monday!

Thank you so far to everyone who has entered my Color Club 2013 Halo Hues GIVEAWAY. You can enter until April 10th.

I had a unexpectedly busy week, and the weekend was so warm and mainly sunny, that I spent alot of time outside so my blog got neglected just a little. I will be starting responding to tweets & comments in the next few days.

Also Hello to any new followers. Thanks for the follow :D

Today I have Lise Watier Power Punch to show you guys:
Lise Watier Power Punch:
A elegant light pink with a strong peach pull, it has pretty micro shimmer which is what caused me to pause long enough at the store to bring it home with me. Formula was difficult, what you see here is 3 coats.
I find this shade of pink/peach to be very flattering on my skin tone. and I've already worn it twice (despite the crap formula). Wear time is decent: 2-3 days.

I dressed it up with a swipe of Essie No Place Like Chrome and MASH Plate 28 with Konad Special Black:
I sorta wished I left it plain!

Thanks for reading!

If you haven't yet, please feel free to enter my giveaway HERE.

Have a great day.
